Jamie Ridler’s video of her year in photos, taken for Project 365 (2009), inspired me to participate in 2010′s photo project. What a lovely way to look back at your year and also develop photography skills and a fresh perspective on the world around you! I’ve joined the Project 365 Flickr group and you’ll see thumbnails of my photos in the sidebar to your right. I’ll put them all together in video form at the end of the year. I thought this was such a good idea, I’ve recruited my son, who received a new camera from Santa this year. He’s created a blog, A.P.’s Adventures, to showcase his photos instead of joining the Flickr group. I hope we both are able to keep it up throughout the year.
Two other projects I’m participating in this year are:

Many of you are probably already familiar with the Creative Every Day challenge hosted by Leah Piken Kolidas. I tried to commit to participating last year but found the idea of creating an entire project every day a bit daunting and just knew it wasn’t going to happen. My thought behind participating this year is that I will do my best to do something creative every day, whether it be a small sketch, a poem, write a page or two of a story, take a photo (and possibly play with it on Photoshop Elements), or explore an idea by writing notes and letting my imagination take flight. Maybe I”ll create a new tablescape, design a bracelet, make up a new recipe, or plan a party. Whatever the case may be, I’ll try to look at things in a new way, tap into my inner child, and believe that it is okay to be silly and fun and not hide behind my fears. Leah stresses that this should not be a stressful project and I will remind myself of that when I’m feeling overwhelmed and guilty for not posting one week. Speaking of posts, mine will be most Mondays when Leah has her check-in post.
Weekly Gratitude is hosted by Karen Grünberg and Lori Gentile, who were inspired by The Gratitude Project started by Brenda Arnall. My weekly gratitude post, in a format as yet undecided, will appear here on most Tuesdays. I think it is important to meditate on and truly appreciate the good we do have and not just think about what’s gone wrong or what we desire but do not have. Weekly Gratitude is the perfect reminder and I invite you to join us.
One project I’ll mention, but not delve into too deeply, is a new site I’m building that I hope will help nourish not only my needs and dreams but yours. I pray that my ideas for it will bear fruit and grow, and become even better and more than I imagine. I won’t go into it any further now but expect to hear more in the next month.
Are you participating in Project 365, Creative Every Day and/or Weekly Gratitude? Do you have any other projects you’re starting this year you think others might like to hear about? Please let us know in the comments to this post. I know I’d love to hear about them!
