What makes you happy?
Today, what’s making me happy is that my sister and her family are coming to spend the weekend with us! Yippee! We only get to see them every few months so I’m giddy with excitement and look forward to a weekend of relaxation, wine, good food, laughter, games, Sunday’s football game (go Vikes!), and more of the same.
With our parents no longer here to round up the herd for family occasions, we need to be sure to create opportunities for togetherness. It’s not always easy and since their move a few years ago, my sister and family have to travel four hours to get here but it warms my heart that they make the effort to do so. I’ve a bit of a driving phobia and haven’t yet made the trip to their neck of the woods but plan to do so soon.

My parents and siblings have always lived at quite a distance from me – so I only get to see them every year or few; fortunately our kids and grandchildren are nearby so at this stage of life we have that side of family around. But it’s hard when everyone is scattered – and makes time together very precious. Enjoy your weekend with your sister and her family – that’s plenty to be happy about!
