It’s International Peace Day people!  It’s the day for people across the world to express their versions of peace on a synchronized date.  Welcome to the party!  Our benevolent host is Rhonda Roo at Roo’s Treehouse.  Please take off your shoes and put on your smiles because today is all about peace and love.  To get you in the mood, groove to the musical stylings of George Harrison.

Give me love
Give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light
Give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope
Help me cope, with this heavy load
Trying to, touch and reach you with,
Heart and soul

Om m m m m m m m m m m m m m
M m m my lord . . .

Please take hold of my hand, that
I might understand you

Won’t you please
Oh won’t you

Give me love
Give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light
Give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope
Help me cope, with this heavy load
Trying to, touch and reach you with,
Heart and soul

Om m m m m m m m m m m m m m
M m m my lord . . .

Please take hold of my hand, that
I might understand you

Now that you’re comfortable and your hearts are open and ready for more, you might enjoy meditating on Mahatma Gandhi’s five teachings to bring about world peace:

  1. Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment.
  2. What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty and democracy?
  3. There are many causes that I am prepared to die for but no cause that I am prepared to kill for.
  4. An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.
  5. We must become the change we want to see in the world.

This last teaching is one of my all time favorites!

It’s getting a bit late and I know you have other stops to make before the party is over.  Please take this gift before you leave.  You may share it with whomever you like, and especially those you don’t.

Peace
by Raymond A. Foss

Practice kindness to all
Exhibit the best of your nature
At one with the universe
Called from ages past,
Echoes of the creation

It was grand sharing this time with you.  I hope you enjoyed your stay.  Happy International Peace Day!

I am very much all about teaching #5…to be the change you want to see in the world. It starts with one. The one is “me” or “you”…if we don’t start with ourselves how can we expect others to envision change?

    Hi Pamela,

Thanks for stopping by my blog! World peace party sounds like a great idea. If we want this to happen, we need to mobilize people around the world and just do it! Ask the people on top to step aside. Maybe have an army-free day?

When I was a kid, the girls in my neighborhood would claim certain “Beatles” to date. They all wanted Paul. I wanted George. I loved him. Also like G teachings #2. Am reading Thomas Paine, the father of our democracy and his ideas seem to differ from the every “man” for himself drumbeats. He was for improving the plight of the so called “common man” as far as I can tell.

    Thx! Giulietta
